CONCERT-STORIES FROM VITAS FANS
Story from Mona Silaeva.
Throughout
the first part, Vitas was very serious because he performed sad and
tragic songs (“The Bird of Happiness” was the only exclusion). But in
the second part he compensated the lack of joy and entertained the
audience here and there. He demonstrated cute mimics and dances, told
various jokes, and flirted with the spectators.
The song
“123” was performed not in the black tinned costume, as in China, but in
his famous red-and-black “gladiator’s” costume with electron letters
VITAS running across it.
When the audience was strongly
warmed up by Vitas’ energy, some people began shouting orders for
various songs: “Three White Horses!”, “Winter!”.. Usually Vitas ignores
such orders and continues singing his program, but this time he was
obviously in good mood and decided to make the people pleased. So, he
sang the refrain of “Winter”, and this satisfied the shouters. :)
At
some moment, Vitas had to go to the dressing-room to change his
costume. But suddenly he confused the way off the stage and went in a
different direction. Fortunately, he quickly found a right way and thus
avoided wandering about the stage in search for an exit. :)
After
the concert, the audience was invited to the dressing-room to get
Vitas’ autographs. Surely, the corridor leading to the dressing-room was
overcrowded – all were eager to get inside as soon as possible. People
were let to enter the room by small groups. Vitas was still in good
mood. He signed his photos, discs, or fans’ tickets and was very gentle
to visitors.
It’s hard to find appropriate words to express the emotions after Vitas’ concert. The show was MAGNIFICENT! Vitas was GREAT!
P/S Thanks to Anna Russia for translation!

Storie from Victoria Giugo,Vilnius
on May 16 in Vilnius was the performance of my favourite singer Vitas. my love since 3rd grade.
I had been looking forward it and it finally happened. The last time he
visited Lithuania was almost 6 years ago and sure u guys can imagine how
much I have missed this face. :)
so, will tell you how it was.
The performance started with amazing music played by Vitas' band called
Diva. It was really amazing and I enjoyed every single second. Then
Vitas appeared in his cool costume and as always shocked everybody.
Then he was singing some of his new and some of his old songs and during
PTICA SCHASTYA song he came down from the stage and started walking and
singing in the hall then on his way back he grabbed my hand and started
dancing with me. It was such a surprise for me I couldnt even realise
the reality of this situation but as I love public and being on stage it
was ok for me. the he kissed me and I went on my sit. After that he
said that it is the time to give some flowers to women and came again
with some roses in his hands. Ofcourse I had received one. :D
But unfortunately the time of that perfect performance had finished and
Vitas left the stage and the crowd started gathering for Vitas'
signature on their tickets or where ever. People were really crazy and I
thought that they would kill me for being actually in the front. But
anyway I decided to try my luck and wait for it. and it wasn't for
nothing cuz I walked into his room and was all alone with him and the
bodyguard actually :D anyway I was so nervous that I told him some
stupid stuff and he even made fun of me repeating one phrase 3 times :D
ohh, people I was so damn happy and excited, he is def the best :) Vitas
if u will ever read it remember to come to Vilnius again :) me waiting
for u :)
Thank YOU Victoria

Claralinda's Story from Riga Concert
Story from Claralinda,Sweden. When getting on the bus to Arena RigaI noticed it was crowded. So full
of women. Well, I squeesed my self in and had to stand all the way. When
I was getting off at Briana Iela (Briana Street) all the others were
getting off too. Were all these women heading to the Arena Riga just
like me? I saw one girl with a flower basket in her hand, so I said to
my self, all these people are going to see Vitas! When Vitas
entered the stage with his black, red and gold outfit I could not help
putting both my hands over my mouth in a gesture of utter surprise,
amazment, happiness and love. I have seen him so many times on youtube
with that outfit and now, there he was live just a few meters from me.
And then the golden outfit when he sang Ave Maria. He looked divine. He
walked so slowly on stage and his posture was proud and humble at the
same time. I was overjoyed. But let's go back to june 2009 in
Jurmala. I went to that concert. He was glowing like the moon. The
concert hall was steaming hot and Vitas' forehead was wet. It was such a
magic evening. I had brought a gift for him. A novel by Swedish author
Astrid Lindgren. "Karlson on the roof" I had bought the book because I
know Vitas knows about it. Like all Russian children he had read it as a
child. He even sings a song about Karlson. So I thought he would like
to have the book in original language. But when the time came I couldn't
make my self get up and give it to him. I didn't know when to get up to
the stage. And when I saw the others go with their flowers, I felt
embarrased to get up and join. So I brought the book back and it was
here for almost two years. But when going back to Riga I brought it
along. This time I knew better. When I saw the others go to stage, I
joined in. I am not a forward person, so I didn't feel completely
comfortable, but I did it anyway. I was waiting for my turn and I
reached out my hand and handed him the book with the cover up, so that
he could see the picture of Karlson on the front. He looked at it and
said "Karlson" . I grabbed his other hand and I held it for maybe 10
seconds and then the moment was over. When returning to my seat my heart
was beating like a drum and I could not help crying. I was so happy. The
most wonderful thing for me was that Vitas was able to see and
recognize the book I gave him. In the middle of the commotion with
flowers, music and fans he was ready to observe and see it. Another
artist might have been too busy to even read the title of a book in such
a situation. He carefully placed my book between a flowerbasket and
a loudspeaker. When concert was over and he picked up the flowers, he
forgot my book. I felt a tiny bit disappointed, but I was still happy. I
lingered on in the arena for a short while and then I saw a man coming
on stage. He was picking up different items from the stage and among
them the Karlson-book. That was a comfort. I hope and guess the man was
handing it to Vitas later. And even if he didn't I am still happy, for
ever happy that Vitas said "Karlson" and that I held his hand for a
wonderful moment. This was my second Vitas concert but hopefully not
the last . I am still happy and in some sort of shock. A Vitas concert
is such an injection of love and happiness. I am so greatful I was able
to go to Riga! And I am forever greatful for internet and youtube.
Without it I would walk around in this world without knowing of this
wonderful, adorable man. And by the way: today is my anniversery. I
discovered Vitas on youtube on May 19:th 2009.
Thank YOU Claralinda !

Lelia Agostinho's Story from Vilnius Concert
Story from Lelia ,Portugal
In
Vilnius the bus stop with the name of the place of the concert is not
near the place of the concert !!! the bus stop there has another name
!!! Bus drivers seem to be mostly russian and usually people don't
understand english and can't help. Let me tell you... that it was
a miracle i could be in this concert !!!
The hall was full and the
audience was very enthusiastic and lively, many times we stand up to
strongly applaud Vitas after a song.
I was deeply deeply moved and for a long time just couldn't avoid tears !!!
Vitas
came down from stage two times: Bird of Happiness and I Thank You. I
didn't get a rose but, like most of others, i stand up to see him better
^_^
In Bird of Happiness Vitas came down the stage and went
around the hall singing, put the microphone forth to some people before
he took a girl by the hand to the front, but not to stage. She was
happy, they danced a little and then kiss and good-bye and Vitas went
back to stage where he finished singing. All the time many people were
standing, me included ^_^
In Shores of Russia Vitas sung "Vilnius" instead of "Russia" and of course the public liked that ^_^
All
the atmospheare of the concert was very cheerful even if "Mommy and
Son" and "Mama" were very solemn ... both songs got very strong
applauses and "bravo".
There was no break. It seems the concert was very short but it started by 8 and finished by 10 !!!
After
the end, when lights went on, something was said loud in russian and i
saw some people moving like to back stage and so i also went there ...
just in case i prepared my special silver pen ^_^
After a while
people started to come back and i asked a girl what was going on, she
said we couldn't get in and people were saying we should go to the car.
We waited for a while but at last went outside not really knowing what
to do next. After a while we followed some people inside again, we were
not so many by now.
There was a door and a bodyguard was letting people go in by three or four at a time, so we waited.
And
then ... my turn came and i went in ... Vitas was seated behind a
table, his stage make up still on and damaged, but it was Vitas !!!
I
went to the side to be able to show him my dress and asked him to sign
it. Another bodyguard was inside the room and told me no, autographs
only in papers, i show him the special pen and Vitas made him a sign
that he would sign and another sign to me to wait ...
I must say all this was happening like in a dream, i don't know how i was brave enough to talk to Vitas directly !!!
He
signed some more papers and then stand up, i gave him the pen, lift my
leg a bit and he signed !!! he gave me the pen back and i went out ...
It was also a miracle that i could find my way back to hostel !!!
the first bus, when the driver went out to buy chocolate ^_^
how i found out were to get out of the second bus ^_^
my V dress with autograph ^_^
Thank YOU Lelia <3

Amy Garret's Story
A long long time
ago...in a galaxy far far---oh wait it's this one.
This is the story
of the V-hat.
The original hat
was made from a black fedora I bought for myself, at WalMart. I found brocade
bracket iron-on transfers, and iron on jewels as well. My original goal was to
make a hat with the V-logo, but I had no idea how to accomplish this. It seemed
impossible, so i just did what i could with the pre-made
transfers.
It turned out
alright, being surprisingly hard to iron on a curved surface of the hat. The V i
created by sticking the jewels face down onto the sticky transfer sheet of the
pre-made iron ons after I was done with them.
It turned out
better than I expected. This hat was for me to wear, so that when people asked
me "what does the V stand for?" I would have an opportunity to talk to them
about Vitas.
Cut to: last year,
when Vitas was giving a concert in Novosibirsk. Anna had offered quite
generously to give Vitas a gift from USA fans who were desperate to see him come
to our country! There was a card i believe, and I wanted to contribute something
to the gift. So I sent my hat to Diane, who in turn sent it to
Anna.
While the hat was
en route, the news arrived that the USA tour was booked and signed. A
miracle!
Anna has posted
the concert account of the hat's adventures, and I will use her
words:
"As for the hat,
Vitas first put it on the edge of the stage but then carried it to Rushan’s
percussion instruments. I suggested that he intended to use the hat during the
concert, and this really happened somewhat later."
...
"At the end of the
song, a musical fragment of Jackson’s song “Billie Jean” played, and this was
the time when Amy’s hat came into use. Vitas took it and noticed Amy’s visit
card inserted into the hat. He carefully examined it and then began putting the
hat on. It seems the hat was somewhat small for him, because he pulled it over
his head for several seconds, but finally he succeeded in doing this. He pulled
the hat over his eyes and began moving with famous Jackson’s “moon walk”. In
this image and with these movements Vitas resembled Jackson so much that I even
thought it was real Jackson. :) The audience screamed, being impressed, and
applauded, shouting “Bravo!”. After these short dances, Vitas again put the hat
onto the percussion, and its following fate is unknown to me. I doubt that Vitas
took the hat to the next cities. But I think Amy will not be offended at him for
this. She must be happy that he paid attention to her hand-made present and even
used it in his concert. It’s a pity that nobody took a photo of these “Jackson’s
dances”, because any shootings were forbidden.
BTW, I saw a
professional photographer and Novosibirsk TV channel operator at the concert,
but they were allowed to take photos and shoot video only at the first two
songs. If any photos or videos appear on their official sites, I will share them
with you, my friends."
I wasn't too upset
when it was deduced that Vitas had not kept my hat, because I had only intended
it to catch his interest into USA fans. It was a complete surprise and great
honor that he had worn it on stage. But it still was sad to me that no photos
existed of him wearing the hat! Since I could only see with Anna's eyes, I
decided to recreate the event for the USA tour.
This time, I had
to find a way to make the official logo on the hat. I thought about
screenprinting or spraypainting a stencil but again, the curved structure of a
fedora presented a problem. I realized I would have to draw the logo on freehand
with a silver fabric marker. But I still wanted to add gems to make the hat
sparkle in the stage light, and to match the rest of Vitas' sparkling
wardrobe.
In the end, I used
a small woodburning element that my grandfather had given me before he passed
away. The object is pen shaped, with different nibs, one sharp, one in a
calligraphy point, and a few that are flat pieces, used for burning uniform
stars or teardrops or hearts, similar to the head of a rubber stamp. The
woodburner plugs in and the metal tip grows hot, like a small iron. This enabled
me to choose precisely where i wanted the gems, and put them on securely without
a giant iron, and also, to attach them without damaging the
hat.
The project took a
couple of hours, but in the end I had the result I wanted: I had used a slightly
larger hat, and a pure black one, as I didn't really like the effect of the band
around the previous one.
I took the hat
with me on my trip to see Vitas' concerts, being careful to preserve its shape
and keep it in good condition. I wore it to the New York and Toronto concerts
myself, making no move to give it to him. I must confess I wanted him to notice
me and perhaps remember the previous gift of the hat from
Anna.
I was lucky
enough, through the effort of Diane, to whom I am eternally grateful, to be
selected to sing "The Bird of Happiness" with Vitas at the Chicago concert, my
final show. I decided I would give the hat to him then, and wanted its
presentation to be marked. Before the song, the girl singing with him is
expected to gift him a flower or bouquet, to transition from the crowd of
flower-giving to the duet. I thought giving him the hat at this time would be
perfect, but I didn't feel right not giving him a flower.
I decided to give
him both at once. I had a small yellow rose cut down, and concealed this in my
hat when I went up. I then pulled the rose out of my hat, and handed it to
Vitas, who smiled. Showing the design on the hat to him, I then handed that to
him as well. He put the hat next to his growing pile of flowers, careful not to
let it get lost in the stems and blooms.
What followed was
the best experience of my life, and one I have already told. But I am trembling
again as I write this, with joy in the memories of singing with
Vitas.
I sat back in my
seat, crossing my fingers that he would decide to repeat the Billie Jean
performance with this hat as well. What followed....well, we all know. It is
there on the official site for all to see, Vitas moonwalking in the hat I
crafted for him.
And what followed
that, as I went home, was even better. Because he had kept the hat, somehow,
taking it with him to Miami. He had another hat to wear that night, but mine was
not forgotten. Rushan kept it safe atop his head as he played the
drums.
Perhaps I should
make hats for DIVA too :)
*end*
-boundless thanks
to Diane and Anna, who saw that my hat got safely into Vitas' hands the first
time. And to Diane again, for her amazing gift of singing The Bird of Happiness
with Vitas.

V-Storie from Casey Kerwin
Well, my long
awaited concert came and went in a blur! It was 3 long months waiting, and Vitas
didn't disappoint! He opened with Kuda Ti, and I noticed the most amusing thing
on his awesome black and red costume... in the center of his chest, he has a
scrolling marquee that spells Vitas in red letters, and it just keeps scrolling
accross his chest during the whole song! I was laughing and talking so loud at
this point telling my daughter ... "Ha Ha look at that!!!" I was like a little
kid laughing and just enjoying every moment of the show. His turquoise and teal
glittery costume was so much more beautiful in person... in fact all of his
suits look better in person too! The gems and crystals that adorn his clothes
just sparkle more than an ordinary camera can capture... You just HAVE to go see
him in person to get a true appreciation of Vitas' flair for design. I had
thought I would write little notes to try and help myself remember everything,
but... I forgot! I couldn't even remember my little idea to help me remember!
Before the show started, Dimitri found me and gave me my instructions for The
Bird of Happiness. I was to watch for him stage left, and walk to him during the
song just before Bird. So, that's what I did, and I carried my gift to Vitas,
which was a red heart filled with the absolutely most delicious candy in the
world, See's! Then, from then on, more people from the audience kept going up on
stage to give Vitas his flowers, and he kept smiling and accepting them from one
and all, though you could tell it wasn't what he was expecting to happen. At one
point he was preparing to sing "Mama" he had his eyes closed, and was readying
himself, and a lady was standing right next to him with her gift, and he didn't
even realize it! He popped his eyes open when he realized someone was there, and
he just got the cutest expression on his face to have been so surprised by her!
It was adorable.I knew the whole concert that my little starring role was
coming, but you know what? I wasn't even nervous about it. I was kind of afraid
that I would ruin the concert having "nerves" but being entertained by Vitas...
you just don't think of anything but how beautiful he is, how wonderful his
music is, and I just rocked out and screamed and yelled my head off the entire
night! I spoke a few of my Russian words to him,... he asked my name, and I said
the proper Russian back to him, I said good evening to him in Russian, then he
said this long sentence, and I went... "Um...Yeah... uh huh!" ... and I got s
little laugh... and then we started singing! I did my best with the dancing, but
I lost the beat a time or two... I am dance-lexic along with my other faults! I
guess I was the only "Old Lady" Birdie, but I am OK with that! It was ME up
there singing with Vitas, and what more can a FANATIC ask for? After the show
lots of people came up to me and said really nice things, and even thought that
I just had run up there and pushed my way to sing a song with him... so it came
off as pretty spontaneous to the audience! After the concert, we got to go to a
little side room back stage where Vitas was waiting and he signed autographs for
everyone that wanted one! That was so awesome of him! He must be tired, such a
busy concert schedule, but he just waitied for everyone to get their autographs.
But... when I peeked my head into the door, Vitas saw me, and got a huge smile,
stood up and came to me and gave me the perfect hug! That made me so happy,
that he came to me! He showed Sergey my tattoo, and he took care to sign it very
prettily! I only hope it stays on my arm until I get to my tattoo artist to ink
it on for me! It is a really beautiful signature, and he signed it in English!
My daughter Annie has mad skills for getting backstage, and she was one of the
first in to his room to get 2 pics signed. We got Valeria's 8 x 10 of her and
Vitas singing Bird together, and that will be in the mail to her as soon as I
know where to send it! Luckily, both of my twin daughters are head photo techs
at 2 different Walgreens, so we were able to get Val's pic printed up quickly
and even got some good metallic sharpies to sign photos with... we left our
markers with Vitas! So, I gave Vitas one final hug... that made 3 in total for
me!! YAY!! And as we were leaving I told Sergey Pudovkin "Thank you for
discovering Vitas!" I think he understood, he does speak a little English...
Vitas said "Thank you very much" to me after we sang together...I know I am all
over the map talking about this, I can't seem to arrange my thoughts in a clear
reporting manner, but I wanted to write as much as I could right now, while I am
still HIGH from my contact with Vitas. My family thinks that after this, maybe I
have Vitas out of my system. but for me, I am now looking forward to his 2012
concert tour! Annie said I am not allowed to start any countdowns until 6 months
out! lol I really want to say just a huge Thank You to my wonderful daughter
Annie for #1. Buying my concert ticket for my Christmas present. #2. Spending
these past few days together, having a day of beauty together, manicures,
clothes shopping, #3 Driving me everywhere, and putting up with my mania over
this concert! She even stayed up so late uploading these pics and videos for me,
because I am also computer-lexic!Maybe someday, I will try to re-write this and
make it make more sense, but then again, I might just let it stand as my jumbled
up bunnches of happiness, and I owe it all to Vitas!
My
dream came true!

Story from Robbie Slater
Thank You Robbie for Sharing your beautiful V-story !
Story about Vitas
The first time I
heard vitas was in 2008, my mom was listening to him in the car. When I got home
she showed me a video I thought he was cute. I started listening to him a bunch
of times I listened to him almost everyday. In 2009 I saw a schedule for his
Sleepless Night concerts, there was Russia, China, Poland, Australia, Canada and
a couple of other one's I don't remember. Later in 2010 I went on the internet I
saw that vitas was coming to Canada and USA he was going to New York, Toronto,
Chicago, Miami, Las Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver I was excited to go.
Later I got chosen to sing with Vitas I was so excited. On the day of the
concert when I woke up I remembered that it was the day of the concert and I was
nervous. When I went downstairs after getting up from bed I saw the drummer his
name is Rushan and the bass guitar person his name is Andre. I did not go say hi
because I was nervous to see them. It was unbelievable to see that they were
there. I told mom, she told me to go get a picture with them, I did not see them
downstairs but behind me they just got off the elevator it scared me because I
did not expect them to be behind me. They did not say hi they just went pass me.
Mom came down I showed her where they went. We went to see them some of the
words they did not understand, they know very little English. Mom said to them
that I was going to sing with Vitas, and then Rushan says "concert." Mom asked,
"is Vitas here?" Rushan said "yes". After talking to them we went downstairs
into the gift shop and when we left I saw Sergey. We went to go say hi; mom
introduced me and told him about me singing with vitas. After meeting him we
went to our room I stayed for a bit and went downstairs to find vitas I did not
see him so I went back up to my room for a bit then went back downstairs and I
saw Sergey. He was talking to a couple of people and eating some ice cream, I
went back up again then went back down to find Sergey I did not see him. I went
up the escalator I looked behind me to if I could see Sergey or vitas, I found
Sergey, he just got on the escalator as I headed to the elevator he was going
the way I went. I got on I did not press the floor that my room was on. I waited
to see if he was going on the elevator. I was about to peek and see if he was
going to come on. He got on and said "hello again." he was scrolling down the
buttons saying "eight, eight, eight" he could not find it so I pressed it for
him he said "thank you" and then he said "sleepless night" he kind of laughed
then when the eighth floor came he said "bye". When I got back to my room I
painted my nails a sparkly beige color then went back down to find Sergey to
give him a hug and vitas' gift, I did not see him. I kept on going up and
downstairs trying to find him then finally I saw him I smiled at him he smiled
back he went to go take a couple of pictures I came to him and said "Can I have
a hug?" He said "what?" I said, "hug" he said, "what do you want?" I don't think
he understood what I meant so I thought that if I put out my arms maybe he might
know what I'm saying so I did that and said "hug" he put out his arms I nodded
yes then he said "oh I understand, I understand, I understand" as he was saying
that he put his head gently on my head and rocked me slowly and gently. I gave
him the gift for Vitas; I asked if he could give it to vitas he said yes, so I
left. I went to my room for a bit, then I went back down to find vitas, I did
not find him but I did find a different Sergey. Dmitri was going to instruct me
on what to do when I sang with vitas. I saw Andre, the keyboard player his name
Vasily, Rushan, the guitar person his name is Alexander. I smiled at Rushan and
at Alexander and Rushan smiled, Alexander nodded as a way to say hello. I just
watched them, and then went up to my room to get ready I curled my hair, got
dressed, put makeup on. We went downstairs around 6:50 pm the doors opened at
7:00. We got in and waited till the doors for the concert opened, then in a bit
they opened and we got in, went to our seats. Dmitri came to a lady and asked if
she was Robbie. She said "no", mom said, "This is Robbie" He came over to say hi
and introduced he he told me what to do and to not be afraid. The concert was in
2 parts in part 2 I would sing with vitas. We waited till the curtains opened.
When they opened he was there it was unbelievable seeing him. After part 1 we
waited for part 2 Dmitri came over to give me flowers to give to vitas he told
me again to not be afraid and reminded me what to do. As part 2 started after a
couple of songs, the song Inaccessible began I knew that after this song I would
sing with vitas; my heart was beating almost as fast as if you were running.
After the song Dmitri nodded at me to go up there so I did, once I got up there
I was completely relaxed. I did not get scared about how many people were at
this concert I was calm. I wore a copy of his scarf from opera#1, he looked me
over from head to toe he was grinning, it was cute he looked tired. He said in
Russian "what's your name?" I said "Robbie." then in English he said, "how are
you?" I said "good." then in Russian he said, "are you going to sing with me" I
said "da" which means yes in Russian he seem surprised that I said that. The
song began and a couple of people came to dance on stage it was funny, vitas
held my hand, one of the people who were up there tried to take my hand and
dance with me vitas was shaking the microphone at him saying " maya maya maya"
which means mine in Russian, the guy left. After the song ended he said "very
good" then said "bye" I gave him a hug he kissed me. I left the stage. After a
couple of songs Sergey came to sit at an empty seat that was by me. After a
couple more songs the song "I thank you" began he was passing out roses and
decided to give me one. After the concert everyone left except 10 more because
were going backstage to get vitas autograph. 2 girls came to me and ask if they
could touch the hand vitas held. Ha ha ha. We went backstage, we were in line
Dmitri passed
Me and squeezed my
arm and said "very good." when I was in vitas' room mom gave him a hug I gave a
long hug. I gave him my picture he said something in Russian so did Sergey I
think they complimented it. So after vitas signed it we left, but before leaving
the backstage mom gave Alexander a hug I came to give him a hug I only had one
arm a round him instead he gave me a kiss.

V-Story from Afifah
Read this lovely Facebook letter from Afifah Scott,
from the Concert In New York
............................
Where do I begin, let me tell you my concert experience in more detail. Im still in a daze but I'll try. lol
Alot
of people were there, most of the seats were full. It was a huge huge
turnout! Yay! Mostly Russian & Chinese people attended dressed
fancy in fur coats and everything.
So he started off singing Kuda Ti Kuda Ya in that cool outfit. Then he sang Aria in full costume (lovely sparkly outfit!).
He
looked a tad tense in the 1st 3 songs, but my friend and I were
screaming and clapping like fools and the crowd loosened up more and he
became more & more relaxed as the show went on. He even became
flirty & began working his sexy moves midway through the concert. I
was totally blushing and smiling the whole time. He made eye contact
with me and smiled too! His smile is even better up close! I tried my
best to give him flirty looks. hee hee
I saw him up close, he
walked and stood beside me when he handed some select few roses.
Unfortunately, he had 1 rose left and he gave it to a FB friend I know
across from me. But thats ok, I saw him so close! Thats all I needed.
His
voice was amazing! So mesmerizing, and he gave so many mischievous
smiles the whole time. I loved every minute of it. His band rocked as
usual. I was beside myself that night! My voice is hoarse, hands
stinging from clapping excessively but its definitely worth it!!!
My
co-workers were checking him out, I mean everything lol. I admit I did
some checking out too! A once in a lifetime opportunity and I took it.
;-)
My boss especially loved his long legs. He looked great and was completely energized by the audience's reaction.
No
autographs were allowed at the end, he finished his last song and
didn't come out. The security were like "We are closed everyone please
exit". I was like crap, I wanted him to sign my DVD. People were allowed
to bring him flowers during certain songs, so that was great! He was
so happy and surprised I could tell. (A good sign! ) I forgot to give
him my letter though.
If you ever get to go to his concerts, give
it all you've got. Clap, whistle and "Woooo" after every song. And
clap during the uptempo songs, and scream Bravo Vitas whenever you feel
like it. Thats what we did, and he loved it. This made him more
comfortable performing. If this happens, then you get to see the funny
side of Vitas that we love so much. He was hilarious when he became
more relaxed. I pray he gives the same energy if not even more for the
other concerts and hope he is able to get a good rest before each
concert also.
........................THANKS A LOT dear Afifah for telling this story,
and give me possibility to post it !!

ANNA's STORY
Vitas' concert “The Sleepless Night” in Novosibirsk, November 5, 2010
This concert was waited for by Novosibirsk citizens for more than 1.5 years, and it has finally happened!
First I want to thank all foreign fans who sent me presents and
greetings for Vitas. All this was the best evidence of your love for the
artist and interest to his art.
Now let’s pass to the concert story.
In the evening of November, 5, I came to the concert complex half an
hour before the performance. I hoped to see the new DVD “The Sleepless
Night in SPb” and buy a few discs for my foreign friends who ordered
them, but unfortunately these DVDs have not come to sale yet. Probably,
Vitas’ producer changed his plans to start selling the DVD in November
and postponed this for some time. Dear friends, forgive me, please, if I
disappointed you by this news.
The concert was delayed by 20
min, so I had time to examine the spectator audience. I was pleased to
see many people whom I met at Vitas’ concerts earlier. I understood that
these were the devoted fans of the artist, who have being fond of his
music for a long time. Most of them occupied the first rows to be as
close to their idol as possible.
Finally the concert started. First it was absolute darkness in the hall,
only the music played, but when it ended, Vitas appeared on the stage
and began singing “Where you go, there I go”. Though I’m not a big lover
of this song, I liked the new movements and gestures that Vitas
demonstrated during its performance. I can’t exactly describe them,
because it’s necessary to see them with your own eyes. I just can say
that with these movements Vitas slightly resembled a doll rolling here
and there (it is called “nevalyashka” in Russian). It looked rather
cute.
One sad fact. Alexander Gruzdev was missing at the
concert. There was a new guitarist instead of him. I don’t know why
Gruzdev didn’t come. Maybe he couldn’t go to this tour for some personal
reasons, but maybe he left DIVA? No, I don’t want to believe in this!
He is such a professional guitarist, a real virtuoso in guitar playing!
And the new man is rather static and far from being a virtuoso: He
played only simple accords, and the leading musical theme was played by
Vasily Musatov on the keyboard. It is Vasily who saved the situation
owing to his mastership and didn’t allow these musical compositions to
be spoiled.
When Vitas appeared in pharaoh’s costume, the
audience applauded, being impressed by this beauty. And when Vitas began
singing “Aria” and then “Ave Maria”, the audience became silent, being
impressed once more, this time by the high-voice beauty. As soon as the
songs ended, the spectators loudly shouted “Bravo!” (BTW, this scene
repeated after every song – the people showed a very hot reception to
Vitas.)
I must say that all costumes were VERY magnificent in the light of the
stage lamps: They sparkled in all colors, and Vitas looked so attractive
in them that you didn’t know what to do first – to listen to the song
or to look at the costume. And the costume beauty was supplemented by
Vitas’ own beauty, so that the audience, being charmed, often whispered:
“How handsome he is!”
Many spectators were earlier unaware
that Vitas performs songs not only in Russian and Italian but also in
Chinese and Romanian. So, when they heard these songs, it was a big
discovery for them. They vigorously applauded and again shouted
“Bravo!”.
As usual, gifting flowers and presents to Vitas was
allowed only in the second part of the concert, after the song “The
shores of Russia”. I can’t understand Vitas’ policy on this point, but
we had to obey his request. So, as soon as the song ended, a crowd of
spectators ran toward the stage to give their flowers to the artist. I
presented my gifts in parts. First I gave him the flowers. While I was
taking out Amy’s hat from the packet, he received flowers from another
woman. After this I gave him a hat. He thanked and put it onto the edge
of the stage. Then I had to wait until he received flowers from two more
women, and after this I finally gave him the packet with the rest
presents. He said: “I will take it later”. (But it stayed on the stage
after the concert. I asked the bodyguards to bring the packet to Vitas
to the dressing-room, but I doubt they did this. And even if they
brought him the packet, it’s not the fact that Vitas looked into it. As
we were told, he hurried to catch the train, so, it is not ruled out
that he left the packet with the presents in the dressing-room, even not
looking at them, as he most often does.)
As for the hat, Vitas first put it on the edge of the stage but then
carried it to Rushan’s percussion instruments. I suggested that he
intended to use the hat during the concert, and this really happened
somewhat later. (I will tell the details below.)
When the music
of “The bird of happiness” played, Vitas came downstairs and walked
across the hall “to search for his bird of happiness” (as he said). He
went to the 10th row but then changed his mind and came back to the
first row, where a group of girls sat. He took one of her by hand and
carried her to the stage. But the girl looked so as if she was not
satisfied to be chosen for singing in duet: She was rather gloomy and
never smiled while standing on the stage. She performed only a couple of
phrases at the end of the song, told something to Vitas with an
unfriendly face, and went back to her seat. The spectators were
surprised by her strange behavior. Every woman would be happy to be
chosen by Vitas for singing, but this one absolutely didn’t understand
her happiness! :))
After the song “Mama”, the fans from the
first rows stood in memory of Vitas’ mother, and all the other
spectators followed their example. Vitas was deeply moved by this
support, I even noticed tears in his eyes. He thanked the people for
their understanding of his tragedy and for their support.
Then the song “I thank you for everything” began, and Vitas again walked
across the hall, gifting roses to ladies. The bodyguard walked behind
Vitas and carried white and red roses, and Vitas took them one by one
and kindly gave to women. I sat on the fourth row, so I was also lucky
to get a rose (red, as I dreamed) from Vitas. His rose turned out to be
long-living. Usually the roses gifted to me stand no longer than 2-3
days, beginning to fade on the second day. But Vitas’ rose, even after
the 30 km way from the concert hall to my home at zero temperature and
strong wind, is still fresh and shows no signs of fading. Incredible! It
seems Vitas charged the roses by his magic energy to make them
long-living! Obviously he can charge with energy not only water but
plants as well. :)))
The Russian folk song “Kalinka” was performed by Vitas very cutely: He
imitated the movements of Russian folk dances and looked so funny! At
the end of the song, a musical fragment of Jackson’s song “Billy Jean”
played, and this was the time when Amy’s hat came into use. Vitas took
it and noticed Amy’s visit card inserted into the hat. He carefully
examined it and then began putting the hat on. It seems the hat was
somewhat small for him, because he pulled it over his head for several
seconds, but finally he succeeded in doing this. He pulled the hat over
his eyes and began moving with famous Jackson’s “moon walk”. In this
image and with these movements Vitas resembled Jackson so much that I
even thought it was real Jackson.
The audience screamed, being impressed, and applauded, shouting
“Bravo!”. After these short dances, Vitas again put the hat onto the
percussion, and its following fate is unknown to me. I doubt that Vitas
took the hat to the next cities. But I think Amy will not be offended at
him for this. She must be happy that he paid attention to her hand-maid
present and even used it in his concert. It’s a pity that nobody took a
photo of these “Jackson’s dances”, because any shootings were
forbidden. BTW, I saw a professional photographer and Novosibirsk TV
channel operator at the concert, but they were allowed to take photos
and shoot video only at the first two songs. If any photos or videos
appear on their official sites, I will share them with you, my friends.
Then Vitas came to the stage, carrying a small suitcase. Most of the
audience didn’t know what was inside and thus was intrigued. When Vitas
opened the case and took out a red-and-black scarf, the audience
screamed, having guessed what song will be performed. And while Vitas
was singing “Opera 2”, the audience raged! I was afraid that the ceiling
would fall onto my head – so loudly the people shouted and applauded!
The final song “These eyes opposite me” Vitas sang together with the
audience. This old song is very famous in Russia, therefore almost all
Russians know its lyrics. They sang, and I felt sad that this was the
end of the concert and in a minute Vitas would go away and I would not
see him for a very long time...
When the concert was over,
Vitas waved to the audience, and the curtains were pulled together. Some
fans ran to the dressing-room in hope to get Vitas’ autograph, but
there was no reception in the dressing-room. As I told earlier, Vitas
hurried to catch the train, which left Novosibirsk in half an hour, so
he had no time to talk to fans. When he exited the dressing-room, the
fans screamed so loudly that Vitas seemed to be taken aback. He waved
good-bye to fans and left the concert hall through the back exit.
He went away but stayed such excellent feelings from his concert and
such a nice memory about this magic evening! This “Sleepless Night” was
like a fairy tale, like a wonderland where I and hundreds of other
people got owing to the kind magician named Vitas... This artist is
really a magician! – He gives people so much kindness, love, and warmth
that you want to embrace the world from the overfilling gratitude to
fate for the chance to live with this artist in the same epoch. THANK YOU, Vitas, for your existence and everything you do for all people of our big planet! .........................................
Thanks a lot Anna !!
